Improve the health and well-being of underserved communities through awareness, access to medical care, and provision of essential health resources.
The program brought together key stakeholders, including government representatives, caregivers, sickle cell disease (SCD) carriers and warriors, and media organizations, to discuss the growing burden of sickle cell disease within the community. The engagement provided a platform for open dialogue on challenges, lived experiences, and practical solutions. A major highlight of the program was the successful enrollment of 200 sickle cell warriors into the Kwara State Government Sickle Cell Health Insurance Scheme, providing one-year renewable health insurance coverage.
The Dele Shittu Foundation successfully conducted its maiden Health Week from 24th–27th July 2024 across Shao, Offa, and selected orphanage homes in Kwara State. The week featured community awareness rallies, health education on sickle cell anemia, cervical cancer, and menstrual hygiene, as well as genotype testing, blood pressure checks, and medication distribution. Menstrual pads were also provided to women and girls. The Foundation further visited orphanage homes in Wara and Ifelodun, offering personal hygiene education, career guidance, interactive sessions, and welfare support. The Health Week concluded in Offa with a high-impact outreach at the Basic Health Center, Isale Ago, recording a strong community turnout and overall success.
